With generous funding from Google, Google Field Trip Days include free admission, bus transportation, and lunches for kids and chaperones who attend, as well as a welcome from volunteers from local Google offices!
For Fall 2015, public schools from Oakland Unified School District were invited to apply for the program, and demand was incredible; more than 90 classes from 20 schools applied in time! Dedicated teachers and administrators pulled everything together, even at the very start of the school year.
Today, September 9th, the Academy hosted middle school students, who took the time to stop by docent carts and public presentations while they explored the Rainforest, Aquarium, and African Hall. On September 10 and 11, we'll welcome 3rd-5th graders from a handful of elementary schools. Academy staff and volunteers are available at activity tables with Spanish interpreters, and volunteers from Google are joining in on the fun.
