Living Ocean Foundation's annual competition focuses on promoting the need to preserve, protect, and restore oceans and aquatic resources.
The theme for this year's challenge is "Fishing Under the Radar.” This theme was chosen to coincide with a new film the Foundation is producing about fishing. The artwork submitted to this year's competition should creatively portray either illegal, unreported, or unregulated fishing.
To create relevancy for your students, we recommend playing the Sustainable Fishing game first! In this classroom activity, by using a model for how fishing affect marine life populations, students will construct explanations for one of the reasons why fish populations are declining. They will then work to design solutions for ways of making fisheries more sustainable for the animals and the people who depend on them.
